Welcome To Apex Access Consulting
At Apex Access Consulting, we understand that accessibility is not optional — it's essential to maintaining independence and a better quality of life for those who are blind, low vision, and visually impaired. We specialize in helping businesses, organizations, and digital platforms create inclusive environments for individuals who are blind or have low vision. Through comprehensive accessibility audits, real-world usability testing, and practical recommendations, we identify barriers that are often overlooked and provide clear, actionable solutions to ensure equal access for all.
A Mission For Accessibility
Apex Access Consulting was founded by Kaitlynn Perry, a mother of two, accessibility consultant, and person living with blindness caused by Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) — a degenerative eye disease she was first diagnosed with at the age of twelve.

For years, Kaitlynn's experience with RP was limited to night blindness and loss of peripheral vision. That began to change at seven months pregnant with her son, when her vision started rapidly declining. Shortly after his birth, the majority of her sight was gone — forcing her to surrender her driver's license and give away whatever remaining independence she had left. Overnight, she found herself learning to navigate an inaccessible world while caring for a newborn as a first-time mom, without the ability to see. There was no grace period. No gradual adjustment. Just survival.

Before losing her vision, Kaitlynn spent many years working in the healthcare field, where advocating for people living with disabilities became one of her deepest passions. But passion became responsibility the day her son was diagnosed with RP at just six years old. Looking at him, she understood exactly what lay ahead — the barriers, the frustration, the moments of being overlooked — and she knew she could not stand by.

What fully sealed Kaitlynn's commitment to this work happened during a visit to a newly opened large retail furniture store with her husband. She left that store with a blood lip — not from carelessness, but because the space was physically inaccessible and dangerous for someone who cannot see. That moment made it undeniable. Accessibility isn't optional. It's essential. And far too many people and businesses do not yet understand that.

That is why Kaitlynn founded Apex Access Consulting — combining her lived, daily experience as a blind person with her professional training from DeQue University to identify and eliminate the barriers that put people like her, and her son, at risk every single day. Through education, awareness, and meaningful access, her mission is to ensure that no one in the blind and visually impaired community ever feels invisible, dismissed, or alone.

Driven by the belief that "even the smallest of hinges can swing big doors," Kaitlynn is committed to turning barriers into bridges — for her son, for her community, and for all.
